TWC may suspend your account if you have not reported wages for an extended period of time.  Every calendar quarter, TWC closes accounts that have not reported wages for the previous eight calendar quarters.  Closing the account relieves inactive employers of having to file a “no wages” quarterly report.  It also prevents the possible accrual of late report penalties. TWC will send you a letter if they close your account. If you resume employment, you should notify TWC so your account may be reopened.

If wages resume, you can reopen your account using Unemployment Tax Services. To reopen your tax account:

  1. Log on to your account.
  2. Select the Account Info tab.
  3. Select Update/Close Tax Account and enter your changes.
  4. Select Save.
